I was asked last week to help style two celebrities for the Oscars coming up this Sunday, and was even more excited when I got to pick who exactly I would bestow my styling gifts upon. I decided that I would select the hunkiest of Best Supporting Actor nominees, Tom Hardy, and a Best Actress nominee I had featured a few months ago on the Refined Side, Charlotte Rampling.
Oscars Style : Tom Hardy
Hello, Tom Hardy. I’m Amanda
and I love you. I mean, I am here to virtually style you for the Oscars. Tom Hardy has a pretty chameleon-like style when the paparazzi inevitably finds him – sometimes in baggy pants and baseball hats and other times in motorcycle gear and leather jackets. On the red carpet, however… Swoon! His style is clean, classic and traditional. I think we’ll see Tom cleanly shaved, in an immaculately cut black tuxedo.

Oscars Style : Charlotte Rampling
Ever since I did some research on Charlotte Rampling for an article on the Refined Side, she’s been on my radar as someone to look to for minimalist, classic French style inspiration. While she did generate quite a bit of controversy this year over her comments on the Oscars and diversity, there is no denying her classic beauty and I’m sure on the red carpet this year for her Best Actress nomination, she’ll be every inch as stunning as we have come to expect from her.
I also think it’s a safe bet we’ll see Charlotte’s makeup done by the brand she became the face of at 68 (!), Nars. A plain dress with clean lines and simple jewelry will elevate the look and make it about focusing on the natural beauty of Ms. Rampling rather than the dress. I can’t wait to see her style! Here are the basics to make up Charlotte’s look:
