She’s an internationally reputed human rights lawyer with a flawless physique, movie star husband and wardrobe that would make anyone drool. What’s not to love about this woman? Amal Clooney is one of my style icons not only because of the clothes she wears but also because of the work she does. She makes no apologies for being a smart, intelligent woman who also loves fashion. Something that I admire. There was a great article a few months ago about Amal which cover some of her best looks for red carpet, work, travel and casual looks which I thought I’d share with you.
While Amal’s style doesn’t work with my body type (I’m a Salma Hayek, she’s a Kate Middleton) I think there are lessons everyone irregardless of body shape or type can take from Mrs. Clooney.
Working Girl Style
One of the things I love about Amal’s working girl style is that she typically wears muted, neutrals but sometimes she just spices it up with a splash of color. In the image below, you’ll see that she wore a baby pink dress – with pink and purple shoes – while leaving her flat. On me, this would look like I was a toddler only missing my tiara, but on her it just works. It is obviously something that she feels comfortable in and owns. I can see myself imitating the look below of the classic black and white casual office outfit and the neutral tone suit with the statement necklace.
Stop and rejoice, friends. We’ve found a woman who wears Dolce and Gabbana coats while jetting around for work trips. She looks so polished and put together. But when she’s travelling long-haul, she wears jeans with a white t-shirt and a comfortable jacket – a go-to that anyone can imitate.
Red Carpet Style
Having a movie star husband helps, but it’s often Amal stealing the spotlight from George! Look at her classic old Hollywood black and white dress with opera gloves or the red stunner she wore at a London event. She’s polished and most remarkably to me rarely puts up her crowning glory – her hair.
Cause Boho Chic Style
While I’m not a fan of the patterned jeans and lace top, below, I have to admit that she pulls it off. I love the casual dresses and how she makes even casual days look glamorous. It’s an inspiration for me when I’m debating throwing on jeans and a shirt for the umpteenth day in a row – maybe tomorrow throw on a dress?
